I'm going to order it tomorrow.I find it puzzling that anyone would have a problem with the band releasing their music in any way they see fit, here they are offering us what will be the finest sounding version of what was one of the true peaks of their career and people are complaining.Well don't buy it,but don't sour this and future product like it because you want to listen to it here,or you don't like the pricing. They finally do something right and people whine, with all the shit they put out between some of the lame Dick's Pick's,questionable Road Trips and various other half-assed efforts,we should be happy they are focused on doing something comprehensive and worth it.I think since they are producing only 7,200 sets that removing the shows from the archive would not be necessary, due to the fact that the shows being here on the archive will not impact sales since the project will be sold out.

I think they will still remove all the E72 SBDs here - they did for the Fillmore West '69 shows, and that was a limited-edition set.
And my guess is they'll also release maybe a 3-5 CD sampler, like they did for the FW69 set.

But, as DHMonte's posts remind us, almost all these shows are already available, for free, to anyone who wants them.
Deadheads have only had this streaming archive for five years or so...it's not the only resource.

yeah they may be free but wont these be 16 track masters or whatever multi track? I always thought that the things they recorded for possible release always were better quality no?

Yes, this set will be better quality than most of our sources.
So while it's true many of us already have all these shows, not all of them will sound as good.

The irony is, for folks who get their music through torrents & downloads, the music on this set will undoubtedly be available "for free" after release, too...
But they won't have that nice trunk to look at!

i think it's lame to flood these out as torrents right as the band is releasing them. kind of a slap in the face to all that they HAVE given for free.

of course i don't know how I'm going to come up with 450 unless I get rid of at least one kid, hmmmmm

I certainly don't get the whining either. I'm ordering and I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with the Grateful Dead releasing this music. Of course they are going to pull these shows off the archive. And why shouldn't they be pulled?

Whats the big deal if these shows are no longer streamable here? Is that the only way you can listen the the music?

If you have a problem with this, learn how to download torrents! I hope they release every show in their vault and leave only audience recordings here...

I hope that they resume releasing concert videos. If you have a nice TV and a decent sound system, there's nothing better.

Has a listing of what IS in the vault ever been fully disclosed?

No, and I don't think we'll ever have a complete listing, as long as they still have something left to sell...

Then again, some distant day we may have that Downloadable Vault where you can pick out anything you want. The dead.net folks seem reluctant to go the digital route for now, though!

There seems to be a perception over there that digital files are shared like mad between heads, but that CD's are somehow "safer." They may have some kind of research to back that up, but it seems kind of quaint to me ...

I'm with you guys: this is too good to pass up. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get the Fillmore Box because I was sure that the "Limited Edition" thing was just a ruse to bump up the initial sales. I will not make that mistake again. I'll be ordering this one as soon as they get their really messed up site working again ...
